Expanding Trailer makes a 3-Room House

Setting up a 3-room trailer house in 10 minutes? Sounds fun. That’s the idea behind the ioCamper. There’s a few expandable trailers on the market now, including some that are totally hard walled (like this one) and some that are soft inflatable or tent-polable set ups. This one, though, is the only one I’ve seen that expands in three directions like this (check out the photos). The other ones that have come up in the past 5 years have either expanding horizontally like a telescope, or vertically like a pop-up camper.

The design for this travel trailer is by mechanical engineer Tamas Laczko, who really set out to create a unique camping method. And he went through with it and actually built it. We’ve seen some people building DIY trailers and campers (click here for that), but not DIY expandable 3-way tiny homes (basically that’s what this is getting to the level of here).

The dimensions of this expandable travel trailer are 8.2 x 4.3 x 5.6-ft (2.5 x 1.3 x 1.7-m), and the shape is box sized by design, done specifically to fit inside L1 H2 and larger vans.
