We have looked at a variety of tiny homes that come with a range of prices, but this tiny home is far below the price point of any other! Wesley Birch and his wife completed their full time tiny residence for 8,000 dollars! They were tired of the burdens with the standard home market so they went tiny. Wesley says they were overwhelmed by the 25,000 – 60,000 dollar budget range needed for the tiny homes they were finding, so they went even smaller! On the budget that is!
Mr. Birch explains that his tips to going tiny and staying under 10,000 dollars are simple! He says to do your own work, use second hand materials, find free (or much better buys) on Craiglist.org, become friendly with local stores for great bargains, and invest in a truck/trailer. By doing these things Wesley Birch and his wife were able to complete a 24 ft long, 8 ft wide, and 13 ft tall tiny home. Their home features a full kitchen, 7 ft couch, two lofts, king size bed, guest bed area, and a bathroom with a bathtub/shower and composting toilet! They utilized and manipulated every piece of space in their tiny home. This meant that some spaces had more than one use.
The seven foot couch also works for underneath storage and a pull out guest bed. The second loft can fit another twin sized guest bed and works for extra closest space. My personal favorite feature in this home is the staircase. Ladders are very common in tiny homes, but this home has a stylish stair case that looks much easier to manage. Also the lofts do not have railings which is no good if there are kids involved, but are great to keep the tiny space open. Its important to make the most of small spaces and to keep an open floor in order to make the space feel much larger!
They do warn interested parties to be careful if you choose to cut corners. He recommends checking out YouTube “how to” videos to learn how to properly do the work yourself. If you are uncomfortable with work such as the electrical or plumbing, you should ask your friends and family. You may be surprised who is able and willing to help! With only 8,000 dollars spent, Wesley Birch and his wife have a comfortable home that meets all of their needs!
