Prefab home buyers probably enjoy looking at the architecture of bigger, more expensive modular homes to some degree, but its also nice to do some research in the most affordable price ranges. Prefab — the movement — is in large part about saving money while getting a good product, right?
This prefab modular house by MEKA might be within prefab home shoppers price range. You can get a good idea of the size of the building from the photo. It’s 960 square feet (so just qualifies on the larger size of a tiny house or small house). The size also matches it’s name.
MEKA calls it the Thor_960 prefab house design. It has a fair amount of glass, including large glazed floor-to-ceiling sections, but it also has a lot of privacy — in the form of wood facades. The interior walls are also wood clad, as are the floors and ceilings.
Because its a modular house plan, you can modify the design to have the windows and solid walls where you want them.
It comes with all the standard house needs: doors and windows, electrical, kitchen, bathroom, plumbing.
It also has a number of the sustainable eco-friendly prefab home features many modular construction companies are using these days, like a rainwater collection reservoir and solar panels. The rainwater is intended as stored water which the prefab house owner can use to water their lawn or use in other ways.
The models are scalable in size. MEKA has prefab house plans and designs from 320 to 1,280 square feet. They range from $45,000 up. The prefab in the photo (above and below) starts at around $110,000. You can see more of MEKA’s work by finding them at our prefab home builders and designers directory (click here).
