Could you live in a metal house if it was on a large open range in the country-side? This is one of the garage-purposed metal building houses being made by Morton Steel buildings these days, although these buildings can be adapted to residential, office, garage or whatever purpose when they’re ordered and designed. It caught our attention, so we thought we’d share it. Not only is it a garage, but it has a living area in it, so you could either use that area as a guest house or you could build a garage-house while waiting to build a standalone living house, which would then mean you’d have a separate garage and house, not connected like a lot of homes have.
It’s an interesting idea, having the garage and house separate, and it has a couple of advantages:
For one, noise in the shop is a bit separated from the quiet you’d probably like to have in your house. For another, the structures are separate so each can be modified or moved without disturbing the other. Want to expand on the metal garage: sure. It won’t bother you in the house much. Want to move the metal house to the other side of the property? You don’t have to think about costs and hassle of moving your work or hobby space.
There are just a few details available for this building. You can use the project number to talk to the builders about this building design as a starting point. The idea here is that you’re going to have to talk to the builders anyway, but you can get an idea of what metal buildings are options by looking at what has already been built.
