This prefab house caught our attention for its decking (and, of course, its location). Imagine this prefab home without the rooftop deck and large surrounding platform deck: It would look quite different. I don’t know really what they do with so much deck space — there’s just a little 6-chair-and-table social area in the middle, but it has a striking appearance.
This prefab house was listed on Ebay recently by a prefabricated designer and builder called Atomic Container Homes. I don’t know much about this company, so if anyone out there has had any experience with them, please let us know. They’re based in El Paso, Texas, and they have decades of experience designing and building homes, according to the company themselves.
Not only that, but they have a lot of experience with the important associated building procedures. That is, besides designing and building a prefab container house, they can also help you talk to the bank for a house loan, get building permits, and proceed to the step where a prefab house buyer moves in.
Also they have experience with crane work. As they say, “Just try putting 230,000 pounds on the roof of a mobile home sometime!” That’s an interesting point. Most houses are around 80,000 to 160,000 pounds, from what I’ve read. So half a typical house would be less than half of that, but these guys must have set up some huge houses to be placing 230,000 pounds as a second floor!
The house in the picture above was listed originally for $119,000 by Atomic, but the listing has since ended “because the item is no longer available.”
It was listed as a brand-new, original prefab house made under the Atomic Container houses brand, and was their 2X53′ Affordable Lake House. I’m looking forward to hearing more about these guys from you all. To see more from the company, find them in our prefab home designers and builders directory (click here).
